updated nov 11 1999 Hello people of planet earth, Tired of those silly unpractical Windows-(Color)schemes you can't really work with? I hereby present you: - One of the Appearance Colorschemes I have designed ( hey, it's really some fine piece of work I kid you not ! ) - 2 homemade Fonts I use for my Windows-system/desktop, 1 PD "FON"-file which I think is ideal for icon-texts and URL-bar. - The funny Cursor-files I currently still use. - Button-background I created to go with the scheme ( for I.E. ) - Some good settings that go with it. WANNA ADD THE COLOR-SCHEME TO YOUR WINDOWS ? ============================================ ( all this is a completely harmless activity ) - Double-click on the file named 1_COLORS.REG and enter the scheme in your registry. It simply adds data to your registry, it does NOT damage or alter anything. Note that the color-scheme is intended for High color (16 bit) screensetting, and True color (24 bit or 32 bit) is recommended. You can make the colorscheme Active by restarting Windows, or by applying it in the Screen > Properties > Appearance dialog. Now you may delete all the other schemes you had left. ;-) HOW TO GET THE FONT-SCHEME AND WINDOW-METRICS IN YOUR SCREEN ? ============================================================== These settings are OK for use on 15 to 19 inch monitors using a Screen-area of 800 by 600 pixels (or higher). - Install the fonts Eprejek-J ImmortalSys and VT100 the same way you would normally install fontfiles. They are in the \Dataset\ folder that came with this file. - Double-click on the file 2_DTMETR.REG and enter the scheme in your registry. The scheme has grown on me a lot. I even take it with me (or download it) when I get to install Windows somewhere or when I have to work on somebody else's machine.. Maybe someday I'll create a whole "desktop theme" out of it, but this way even users that don't want MS-Plus Theme-support can still have this cake and eat it too... I also added an extra Black&White Greyscale scheme for 8 bit-output, which I designed for use at the serverside with WinVNC ( https://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ ) - About the INTERNET EXPLORER TOOLBAR background image ( IEbg.bmp ) : The file IEBG.reg has this entry : "BackBitmap"="C:\\Windows\\IEbg.bmp" Now in this example the file IEbg.bmp should reside (be copied to) the folder C:\Windows\ Change this entry of you want it in another folder and after that simply double-click on IEBG.reg to enter this in your registry. ALL files in this package are created by me, Julius Thijssen ©2000 They can't possibly damage anything, and if they do it must be your own damn fault. Sue me. Happy happy joy joy, .J. j@jthz.nl You have downloaded this file from https://jthz.nl/puter/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Tue, 09 Nov 1999 10:19:40 -0800 James Harr mailed me: > Hey, the colors are great, but the fonts are all scewed up. Nothing to worry about. You probably didn't install the fonts yet. > All of my Windows menu fonts are very large, > set at a 45 deg. angle, bold, italic, underlined > and struck through. How do I undo what I did? First try installing the fonts that came with my zip the way you would normally install fonts ( startmenu > setttings > controlpanel > fonts > filemenu ) and re-start Windows. If you don't like them the way they are change your display > appearance > scheme back to Windows standard (or whatever scheme you want) or change the font menu-settings to whatever you like more.. Good luck!
